How we support you
To support your access request, we’ll generally need to know:
- Your task details – origin, destination, commodity, volumes, bulk or containerised
- Operational requirements – train type, length, frequency and service needs
- Infrastructure needs – any new sidings, upgrades or terminal interfaces
- Timing and planning assumptions – when you want to commence operations, duration of task, and how the task may grow over time
Providing clear information early helps us reduce delays and work with you to develop a practical solution.

Regulated access request
Access to our network is regulated to ensure it is fair for all users.
The WA Rail Access Regime sets out how regulated access works. It includes:
- Railways (Access) Act 1998
- Railways (Access) Code 2000
- Amendment Code 2012
- Proposed Amendments 2025
The Economic Regulation Authority (ERA) oversees the regulation of our network.
We apply the regulatory framework when assessing access requests and determining access arrangements, including pricing and network capacity.
You can find more detail about the regulatory regime at www.erawa.com.au
